LANGKAWI, May 1 (Bernama) -- The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is proposing a 25-point amendment to the EPF Act to suit current needs, Chairman Tan Sri Samsudin Osman said.

The amendments were proposed taking into account the country's and contributors' interests, he said.

Samsudin said he could not comment further on the amendments as they are being debated in Parliament.

"We've to wait for the debates to over and approved by Parliament," he told reporters here.

Detailed explanation would be given after the amendments have been approved, he said, adding that he could not reveal the gist of the amendments.

On investment, Samsudin said the EPF was on a constant look-out for profitable investment prospects.

"We invest in compliance with the government's procedures. Our investments entail a substantial sum and stakeholders. Hence, we must strictly abide by government guidelines," he told reporters after closing the 2007 EPF sports carnival.
