TANJUNG MALIM, April 7 (Bernama) -- Perak is aiming to attract RM1 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) this year, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali said today.
Last year, the FDI inflow to the state amounted to RM700 million, he said.
"We will be happy if it can touch RM1 billion (in terms of FDI)," Tajol Rosli said after officiating Miyazu Malaysia Sdn Bhd's tooling and dies plant here.
Among others, he added, the state government will offer affordable land for investors to set up their manufacturing plants or businesses.
On another development, Tajol Rosli said if everything goes well, the Perak Hi-Tech Park, which comes under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, will take off in 2008.
The largest investment in the area will be a factory manufacturing liquid crystal display (LCD) costing about RM4 billion, he said.
