Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) Wednesday launched an online service for zakat or tithe payments, known as "Zakat On Line" to provide Muslims a convenient way of fulfilling the religious obligation. The payment of zakat can now be done by the people via Internet through their respective banks appointed as collection agents for LZS, the board said in a statement here Wednesday. SHAH ALAM, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) Wednesday launched an online service for zakat or tithe payments, known as "Zakat On Line" to provide Muslims a convenient way of fulfilling the religious obligation. The payment of zakat can now be done by the people via Internet through their respective banks appointed as collection agents for LZS, the board said in a statement here Wednesday. Nine banks, namely Malayan Banking Bhd, AmBank Bhd, RHB Bank Bhd, CIMB Bank Bhd, Public Bank Bhd, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, EON Bank Bhd, HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd and OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd and Pos Malaysia Bhd will offer the service. To raise awareness of the online service, LZS will start a promotional campaign beginning Sept 13 to Dec 31. The new service will complement the existing zakat collection services offered by 22 LZS counters, post offices and other collection agents. |
